Choosing a Tea Theme
"It's not the tea that makes teatime special, it's the spirit Spring Tea - This type of tea would obviously be held in the spring time and the overall feel of the tea should be that of a floral abundance. Flowers and pastel colors should abound in all your decorating, invitations and even in your menu choices. Simply bring spring into all that you do and you will have a beautiful spring tea. This tea is preferably held outdoors with many surrounding blooming floral varieties making your backyard an ideal setting. Make sure to provide plenty of shade so that your guests are comfortable and at ease. Also, if bees or yellowjackets are a problem in your area, light a citronella candle nearby to keep pests at bay. These uninvited guests can certainly spoil a perfectly good tea. Christmas Tea - A Christmas Tea is preferable held in early December due to busy schedules and it's a wonderful way to get into the holiday spirit. It's absolutely delightful to enjoy a hot cup of tea in a warm cozy home shared with many friends in a holiday setting. Most of the decorating will already be done if held in your house since your Christmas decorations will serve as the decorations for the tea. This is also a great motivator to get all of your Christmas decorations up for all to enjoy. Don't forget to play some of your wonderful Christmas music to add to the ambiance of a cheerful holiday gathering. Child's Tea - This type of tea is to introduce the art of tea to young children and also to let them partake in the ritual of tea. Children delight in drinking from tea cups and behaving like grown ups if only for a short period. They love the extravagance of a proper tea setting. Much care should be taken to make sure the menu is child friendly such as peanut butter and jelly tea sandwiches and even lemonade served in the teapot instead of hot tea. Many a child has had a tea party with their teddy bears and dolls sitting round the table sipping "tea" from a toy china set. Friendship Tea - This type of tea is a wonderful way to gather all of those special people in your life together to celebrate your friendship and to renew old friendships or those that have just fallen by the wayside due to busy schedules. With lifestyles the way they are today most people readily accept a special opportunity to spend time with treasured friends. Private Tea - This type of tea is reserved for those very close relationships in your life that deserve a special time set aside to devote just to them. It is usually for 2-4 people and is very intimate. The setting should be quiet and calm. Extra care should be taken in the fine details of the tea and the goal of this tea is to make the guest feel honored and cherished.
