Sarah's Teahouse
Planning Tea Activities
Once tea has been sipped and food has been consumed it is often enjoyable to have all your guests gather in a comfortable sitting area. Take this time to go around the room and share a special story or memory. In doing this type of activity it allows your guests to get to know one another better and to feel a little closer to those they may already know. At a Christmas tea the guests could share a very special Christmas memory they have or the first Christmas that they remember, their favorite present every received. If your guests brought their own tea cup they could share the story behind their teacup. A fun time could be had by all by sharing a most embarrassing moment. Each guest could share their favorite thing to do on a Saturday afternoon or their favorite color. Even the simplest of sharing can bring a large group closer together to help form the bonds of friendship. Another wonderful activity is to have your guests bring a small gift to exchange in a "white elephant" type exchange. Count the number of guests then make the appropriate amount of numbers on small individual pieces of folded paper. Place in a basket and have the guests draw numbers to determine the order. Whoever has number one would choose a gift first, whoever has number two can either take the gift from the person who went before them or choose an unopened gift. Each gift can be "stolen" twice and then the gift can longer be "stolen". This continues until all the guests have received a gift. The guest who went first gets to choose from all the opened gifts and exchange their gift if desired. Of course, you may change the rules in any way you see fit.
